M for Mendelssohn

SAT 21 MAY 2022 8:30PM

Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra
Gerard Salonga, conductor

Mendelssohn once described his exuberant Italian Symphony as a “blue sky in A major”. Inspired by his stay in Italy, this musical postcard evokes Mediterranean sunshine, grandiose architecture, and its captivating countryside. Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture rides Scotland’s stormy waves, while the Overture to The Fair Melusine weaves a flowing tale of aquatic intrigue!
