Beethoven 2027 - The Pastoral
11 DEC 2027, SAT 8:00PM
Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra
Stanislav Kochanovsky, conductor
Andrea Obiso, violin
CLASSICAL
Stanislav Kochanovsky open a two-week Beethoven Festival with the lively King Stephen Overture, and then Andrea Obiso, Concertmaster of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, plays Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1, dreamy yet sparkling and unlike anything else in the repertoire. The evening culminates in Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony: a walk in the countryside, a brook, a thunderstorm, and a hymn of gratitude. Two hundred years after his death, Beethoven still tells us what it feels like to be alive. Next week: the Ninth.
