Conductor Andrey Boreyko will lead the MPO in a mercurial world of Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a 1934 composition where lyricism and darker impulses converge. Built on Paganini’s celebrated 24th Caprice, the work unfolds through 24 variations, reshaping its theme from playful to romantic and haunting. Featuring Cameron Carpenter as soloist, this is a rare opportunity to hear a celebrated virtuoso transform one of the great piano works into a thrilling organ showcase. To close the evening, Boreyko and the MPO take on Tchaikovsky's Suite No. 3, a sweeping, joyful work, and one of the composer's most radiant scores.
