Csaba Zoltán Kőrös is the son of a workmen's family and was born in Budapest. He started to play the cello at 8 in class of Katalin Kazár and won first place in Hungarian Cello Competition in 1968. He studied under Professor Otto Kertész at the Bartók Conservatory of Music in Budapest and with Professor László Mező after a successful audition in the Franc Liszt Academy of Music. He received his soloist master’s degree in 1978 and one year in Moscow. He also studied under Professor Igor Gavris, Maria Tschajkovszkaja as a postgraduate student.


In 1978, Kőrös joined the Hungarian State Philharmonic Orchestra in Budapest. He also performed in the Baghdad Symphony Orchestra by the invitation of the Minister of Culture Munir Bashir in 1979. He was the establishing member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra (1983 to 1992) and the Haydn Orchestra as well.


As a soloist, Kőrös frequently gave recitals on the radio, concert halls and play chamber music with well-known Hungarian artists. His piano accompanist was Balázs Szokolay since 1986. They also performed as trio with violinist János Selmeczi. He has performed in countries such as Germany, France, Denmark and Slovakia and was invited to perform at the Bayreuth Festival twice with Erick Bergel and the Jung talent festival in Gordon. He was a solo cellist in Italy with West Side Story in a tour with Broadway group of L. Bernstein.


A father of two sons and a daughter, Kőrös is one of the pioneer members of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra since 1998.
